The Legend. The Inspiration. Matty Stuto.

As a first generation immigrant from Italy, Matty, born Matteo, honed his skills of barbering in Sicily, before venturing over to the United States at age 15, offering haircuts on his voyage to Ellis Island. After settling in South Boston, Matty worked as a Master Barber for 20+ years, providing classic cuts, shaves and styles of the 1930's and 40's.

Always the cheery conversationalist, Matty's positive energy radiated through his community. After hours, he'd continue his craft with basement haircuts for his local neighbors, and evenings studying carpentry to later achieve a second career as Head Carpenter at the legendary Schrafft's in Boston, MA.

Finding solace and peace in the New Hampshire wilderness, Matty enjoyed his days off hunting and fishing, while in the summer, his days would be filled maintaining his abundant vegetable garden, or cutting the grass with a cold one in hand.

Three generations later, his work ethic, drive, and passion of life have inspired a new risk, a new venture, a new opportunity. He represents the level of dedication and perseverance that it takes to leap into entrepreneurship - a role model to look up to. And man, the guy had some style! BANTER is honored to share with our community our inspiration: the man, the vibe, and that killer dimple - Matty.
